Lactaid Milk is not Dairy Free

     Did you know that Lactaid milk is NOT dairy free? I saw a recipe the other day for a "dairy free" milkshake and I got so excited because I am allergic to milk, so I am always looking for alternatives. Also,  I love ice cream and really miss the real stuff. Anyway, the recipe was made with Lactaid milk and Lactaid ice cream.  Unfortunately, Lactaid milk is just milk with the lactase enzyme in it. Basically, it is the same as drinking regular milk and taking a lactaid pill with it. For those of you with a slight case of lactose intolerance, this might be fine, but for those of us who have severe reactions to milk and/or are allergic to milk, not so great. Your body will react in the same way because it is still dairy. It just proves how important it is to read labels carefully!
